Stop pressuring men to bulk up.

Gay culture has always been superficial and I am ashamed to say say that for a long time I was one of those people perpetuating those same myths about body image.

I stopped posting hotties of the week because I wanted to find a more positive message for the blog. I also did it for my own sanity because I realised I was comparing myself to guys who were younger or with completely different body types to myself and it was feeding in to my depression.

I get so many emails and messages from young guys who say I’ve inspired them to go to the gym and I’m always happy when I hear from readers who have decided to make a positive change in their lives, but I also worry that the pressure of being hot over being fit is their main motivation.

The “Aesthetics” culture back home in Australia is fuelling a new generation of young men with body issues, I also see it all over Instagram. Many of them worship pictures of a young man named Zyzz who made incredible progress and then died of a heart attack at the age of 22 due to the strain he was putting on his body. The post-mortem report revealed that a previously undiagnosed congenital heart defect had caused a cardiac arrest.

It’s awesome to want to make changes in your life for a healthier fitter body. Working on your appearance and fitness can help you not only be healthier but give you the tools for living with determination, commitment and self discipline. Just be realistic that the pressure you may feel to bulk up, make gains, get lean or activate ‘beast mode’ may come from an industry designed to make you feel inadequate in order to take your hard earned money.

Get fit and get healthy for life not just to be hot. When you feel good about yourself the D will follow.

These are good words to read shannon. I think gay men are more prone to wanting to have a good body because We are all attracted to the hot male body.

If you have take drugs to get the body you think you need then you are doing it wrong.
