Not long till I head home.

Well it’s getting closer and closer every day until I head home for some well earned rest. This trip to the UK ended up being nearly twice as long as I expected and although it’s great to have an extended stay and work it’s also been hard personally but there is lots to look forward too in the next month.

The things I am looking forward to most when I get home.

Number one I am excited that I get to meet my new nephew. He was born a week after I arrived in the UK in February and I haven’t got the chance to introduce myself yet. He’s adorable and almost didn’t make it in to this world. Be’s got beautiful big blue eyes and smile that never seems to go away. My Sister has been seeing me regular updates and little videos of him and he’s been one of my happy thoughts when things got really tough here.

Second I’m looking forward to eating some decent Asian food. It doesn’t matter what region it’s from I just can’t wait for a nice fresh Pho and a good Thai curry. There are some really nice little places around where I live in Melbourne that I love to eat in every day.

Third I miss my gym. It’s been six months since I’ve been able to do more than just a few push ups at home. I can’t wait to get back in to my routine and blast away the last eight months worth of sticky toffee puddings, pints and sugary snacks. I can almost feel the rowing machine calling to me right now. The weather is getting amazing again back home and I’ll be smashing my way through to a new summer bod in no time. My vanity aside there is nothing like feeling fresh and strong and alert after a great gym session. Bring it on!

Fourth I miss my family and my mates. I’m going home to spend as much time with them as I can and I con’t wait to be hitting the beaches and going on adventures again. I’ll need to get a new license and then I think a few road trips might be on the cards. Look out Queensland!

Lastly… the fight isn’t over yet. The Marriage equality survey back home has brought the worst of Australias homophobes out to attack, insult, vilify and bully our community and I’m spoiling to join the fight. Every day I’m stuck here I look back towards home and see my community under attack and wish I was home fighting to defend our families along side my friends. I’ll be home for the end of the campaign which is sure to be the nastiest yet.

So it’s head down and bum up while I finish the last of my business here in the UK. Soon Australia… soon!
